IBEW Local 665 Leads the Way: Justice for Workers NOW!

IBEW Local 665 lead the way with thousands of working people on October 18 in Detroit. The group marched on the McNamara Federal Building, headquarters the regional National Labor Relations Board. The marchers were joined by many top naitonal labor leaders, including IBEW International President Edwin D. Hill. They condemned the injustices of the Labor Board, calling attention to the destructive effects the Labor Boards unjust policies have had on the middle class familiy and the broader American economy. The marchers called for the passage of the Employee Free Choice Act in the first 100 days of the new congress.

The Employee Free Choice Act would stop companies and employers from intimidating, threatening, coercing, and firing employees who want to vote for a union in their workplace. It will mean workers all over the country can freely choose to have good union jobs if they want and they won't have to worry about typical bully tactics. They won't have to fear for their jobs if they choose to join a union. It is the single most important piece of labor legislation in the last fifty years. The passage of the Act would result in the rebuilding of the middle class and a greater voice in international trade agreements for working people.
